If you're considering a visit to Tokyo TeamLab Planets but aren't sure if it should be added to your travel itinerary, I'm here to help. Let me share with you some insights, tips, and an honest review of Tokyo TeamLab Planets.
Tokyo TeamLab Planets is truly an experience in itself. It cleverly combines different textures, elements, and lighting with a high level of technology. Each room is unique and different, offering a variety of experiences from a water room to a pillow room, a room full of large blow-up beach balls, and even a garden room. Trust me when I say it's anything but boring!
To make the most of your visit, I recommend booking your tickets through Klook, especially if you're traveling with a large group like we did (19 people). I've been using Klook to book all our other tours, attractions, and tickets, and they did a great job taking care of our Tokyo TeamLab Planets tickets. When booking, you'll need to select the entry time you prefer. However, the time limit indicated on your ticket doesn't mean you only have an hour to experience Tokyo TeamLab Planets. Once you enter, you can take your time and explore at your own pace. If you want to spend 30 minutes in one room, you won't be asked to leave.
Upon entering Tokyo TeamLab Planets, you'll need to store all your belongings, including shoes, in the provided lockers (don't worry, it's free), and then you can proceed to your first room.
Here are some additional tips for your visit:
1. Dress appropriately: As some rooms involve water, I highly recommend wearing something short, like shorts, short dresses, or short skirts. If you prefer to wear longer pants, be prepared to roll them up to your knees, or even higher if you're short like me. For all the ladies, if you plan to wear a dress or skirt, please wear shorts underneath as some rooms at Tokyo TeamLab Planets have mirrored floors, and you'll want to make sure you're covered in all areas.
2. Stay hydrated: Bring a bottle of water with you as once you enter, you won't be able to leave and re-enter. There are no vending machines or stores between the rooms, so it's best to come prepared.
3. Consider children: If you're planning to visit Tokyo TeamLab Planets with little children, be aware that the corridors between each room are dimly lit. During our visit, we noticed some children crying initially due to the darkness. So, keep this in mind if you have young ones with you.
In conclusion, I highly recommend visiting Tokyo TeamLab Planets. Our group included individuals ranging from 60-year-olds to a 2-year-old infant, and everyone loved it! Each person had their own favorite room, and we ended up splitting into smaller groups because some wanted to spend more time in their preferred rooms.
